oops! FLASHBACK

Year: 2013 Season: Spring  Month: May Destination: Cote d’Azur/ French Riviera

The two of us along with an other couple-friend, started our driving tryst towards the south of France.

We took an off usual route including Heidelberg-Switzerland-Italy-South of France instead of directly driving into France and then driving down south. The long drive (it took us almost fourteen hours) was beautiful and we experienced all the seasons possible from Spring to Winters to Snowfall and then the best summer-like romantic weather in Cannes.

And bang at 21:00hrs we hit the roads of Cannes. We had booked two studio rooms in apartment hotel called Les Agapanthes in Cannes. The room was well placed, spacious with an equipped kitchenette, t.v. with cable connection, one extra pull out sofa bed for guests. My favourite items were the toiletries (Galimard ) placed in the washroom. They smelled like heaven.

It was the next day, when we started to explore the city. After parking the car at the nearest park house to the city centre, we headed for the beach.

There are lots of public beaches, where we really had to struggle to find a nice spot. So, we moved ahead after buying a couple of sunscreen lotions and Fragonard fragrances. I was introduced to the brand when I was working with The Imperial Hotel, New Delhi. Since then, I always wished to own an original Fragonard Fragrance for myself, from the place where it is created.

Next we drove to Monaco. People, let me tell you something. If you have any plans exploring Monaco,  Monte Carlo in particular on foot, then wear something comfortable. Minutes after parking our car, we,the girlies of the gang, realised the importance of wearing some comfortable footwear and not the sky-high stilettos (as my husband would call it). So Zara was our next shopping destination there.

Also, when you have plans going to the Casino there, do not forget to pack a couple of formal wears in your suitcase. We did not. And had big bills from Zara twice in the day.

Nice was our targeted destination for the day next. The city is as nice as its name with lots of luxury hotels, shopping areas, restaurants and food joints and casinos.

Shopping in Nice, for exotic and handcrafted items, is soul elating.

The evenings in Nice are even nicer and romantic.

Apart from visiting these big cities, we explored Eze. It is extremely easy to get charmed by the beautiful Eze. Relishing an absolute amazing fresh salad at Deli was a delight after our walk through Le Jardin exotic. The top of Eze is the best place to capture the sea-lines and horizons through one’s camera.

The private beaches in Mandelieu are good for fun and frolic.

In conclusion, I just have to say that the whole atmosphere and the spirit of the French Riviera makes one feel self like a bright and a shining star.
